Urban-rural educational disparity still exists. Hence, there is an assertion that universities should set lower requirements for rural students. From my perspective, I firmly disagree with that.

The multi-standards of the enrollment might beget harsher work and severer mental stress for students from impoverished areas than the ones from metropolises since it might be suffocating to cover the difference in cognitive ability or intelligence with those urban students nurtured in versatile ways and received scientific teaching methods for those less affluent students growing in shabby schools and tailored by unqualified teachers. Suburb students may find it demoralized that, though with hard work, they can’t handle the complex and systematic curriculum as smooth as their urban counterparts do due to their less comprehensive knowledge hierarchy. The burden might lead to depression or other psychology problems.

Additionally, granting privilege to the poor could compromise the relationships among the class. It is blatantly implausible to eclipse the commitment and dedication of urban peers simply because of their wealthy backgrounds or experience living in the downtown, making urban students might reckon that they are not treated equally. The delinquency potentially coins negative ramifications on the relationships among the urban and the rural in the ways like fights, arguments or even discrimination, hindering the creation of delight environment.

In conclusion, it is simple-minded to oblige the universities to initiate easier standards for students in the countryside because this view neglects the pernicious consequences brought correspondingly such as heavy physical and mental burden on rural students and prospective deteriorating relationships among students provoked by unfair treatments.
