In current society, the problem of whether to do as the Romans do has triggered a heated discussion. Some people suppose that tourists should do as the natives. However, others consider that native citizens should hold an open attitude. I completely agree with the latter view. On one hand, it is reasonable for some to advocate following native manners. The most important argument for this is that changing natives' manners in accordance with tourists would be impossible. Tourists are from a wide range of backgrounds, therefore, conforming natives to them is hard as there are no standards settled. On the other hand, others think situations would get easier when different cultures are welcomed in the hosting city. The main reason is that tourists maybe not accustomed to the conventions in that place. The preparation for a trip is busy, so forgetting some social rules is forgivable sometimes. In my opinion, people from hosting city could have a more open view toward the tourists. Firstly, it's impossible to learn all the rules in the society where we have never been to before. Even if some conventions could be found on the references, it is hard to know all the manners native people have. So following everything is hard to achieve. Secondly, adapting ourselves to life in another place where we will not live for long is unnecessary. Most of the journey would last for several days, up to a month. Trying to change the habit we have already developed means putting ourselves at risk. By this I mean, we may find difficult to go back to normal life when we come back. In conclusion, although new cultures could be learnt by doing as the natives, it's unnecessary to do so. When native inhabitants are open to different cultures, travelers could have an easier and happier travel there. 如下为外教修改后的作文: |
