The maps illustrate the central appearance of a village named Islip at present and after planned construction.

It is noticeable tat Islip town centre consists of individual rectangular parts of shops between the countryside and the housing area, where a main road passing across makes the whole shopping group separate in two sides. There also remains a half-circled sideway alongside the west of the main road to the southeast direction, with the end close to a school. In the opposite side stands another sideway, which is adjacent to a park in the east of the centre.

Great changes will happen in Islip town centre as it is planned. With the exception of the school and the southern part of inhabitation, most facilities and buildings will be encircled by the dual carriageway, whose eastern sideway will connected with a newly-built housing place. Meanwhile, on the border of this road lie a bus station, a shopping centre and a car park. A range of shops in the north will be remained as they are now, whereas a pedestrian road would displace the main road. Unfortunately, original countryside would disappear and the dimension of the park would be smaller as well.

Overall, there is expected to be great shifts between what Islip town centre shows now and after planning, as commercial amenities and housing communities would be enlarged and surrounded by the dual carriageway.
