The charts show the difference of units of electricity produced by different types of fuel source in Australia and France from 1980 to 2000.

The total production has grown significantly for both countries during this period of time. Australia's electricity production increased from 100 units to 170 units while France's electricity production doubled from 90 units to 180 units.

The major fuel source of electricity for Australia is coal. It counted half of the country's electricity source in 1980 and grew to as high as more than three quarters in 2000. Coal played a much less significant role in France's electricity production, the amount of electricity produced by coal remained 25, but its proportion decreased as the total production grew.

Nuclear power was the dominant source of electricity production for France, growing dramatically from 15 units in 1980 to 126 units in 2000, by which time it counted nearly 70% of total electricity production of France, while Australia didn't use this type of fuel source at all.

Other less important fuel source of electricity includes oil, natural gas and Hydro power. Their proportion decreased in both countries in different extent.

Overall, Australia and France had rather different fuel source structure for electricity.

As the percentage of electricity production by coal and nuclear power rose significantly in each country, other types of fuel source became less important.
