In a number of countries, some people think it is necessary to spend large sums of money on constructing new railway lines for very fast trains between cities. Others believe the money should be spent on improving existing public transport.

 Some people share a deep conviction that the fund of countries should be used in building new railway lines for very fast trains, while others agree to upgrade public transport. With both ideas reasonable, however, what I insist is the latter one.

 Undoubtedly, I concede the significance of vast investment in constructing new railway lines for very fast trains, which contributes to the flow of population among different cities and national traffic network. Firstly, this policy could widen people’s choices to travel a long distance, especially for some employees on business trips and tourists. Compared to cars with longer time and planes with relatively luxurious costs, very fast trains have an edge over them in both time and costs. In addition, the newly-built tracks for very fast trains could complement the development of the country’s traffic network, accommodating the requirements of commercial delivery, tourism and so on.

 However, I agree with the idea of enhancing public transport remained now. It is obvious that this decision seems more cost-effective, for which our public transportation system tends to be more completed by support of governments and a small amount of money could be satisfied. In this case, the government could release burden of taxpayers and cut fund for other essential sectors, whether these be public education, recreational amenities or healthcare. Apart from that, upgrading public transport inspires citizens to take buses or subway instead of private cars which produce much more carbon emissions. As a result, it has a positive impact on building an environmental-friendly society.

 In conclusion, though pouring vast money into new railway lines for very fast trains benefits population communication with different cities and national traffic network, I believe hardly a day goes by without the operation of public transport. Therefore, more emphasis should be put on boosting public transport system as it costs less money and reduces air pollution.
